This month Adam Cogan will examine how Office XP smart tags provide a way to connect Office XP directly with your database using .NET Web Services and Northwind. With defined terms you can associate user actions right from within Office.

eXtreme Programming is a big concept which. I don't adhere to every idea, but there are some very practical rules I follow which improves the way we develop on large projects.

  • Never set a deadline more than 3 weeks from the previous deadline. Deliverables become a lot easier to manage, and meet, when they are small.
  • All production code is done in pairs - "too expensive" some people say. And yes, it is pricey, but it is better quality.
  • Write tests before you write code. Unit Tests become a way of life and are again, expensive at the beginning, but pay off during the course of the project. More...
